What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
Alan M. Stillman is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Rhode Island who has been practicing since 1971. He has a BA in Political Science with a Minor in Psychology from Temple University, a Master's Degree in Social Work from Bryn Mawr School of Social Work. Alan believes in viewing the individual as a whole person, responding to the presenting problems, and assessing for other underlying issues, if present. He strives to respect the dignity and experience that that every individual brings to the process. Alan works to develop a therapeutic relationship whenever possible, as he feels it is the most appropriate and successful approach to problem solving and assisting the individual in taking responsibility for their life. In his spare time, Alan enjoys theatre, photography, music, and writing.
