Under Clinical Supervision

Alex Cote, Licensed Master Social Worker, 90626 is practicing under the supervision of Genevieve Uslander (New York, LCSW, 90626) at Resilience Lab.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

Through listening and building a trusting relationship I will help you build new responses. I’ll welcome the darkest parts of you with warmth and humor, because even that which you now want to change was once helpful in protecting you. My approach is grounded in psychodynamics and will draw from other approaches - such as CBT, ACT, somatic integration, arts and play therapy - if it fits the individual situation. My background in play and environmental psychology means I incorporate not just how you think and feel but how you set up your physical space, how you move your body, and more. Together we will discover where the patterns in your life have come from, what’s driving them, and bring some movement and lightness to things that have felt tight and intractable.

Work History

I am a Resilience Lab therapist. I worked as a school social worker at public middle and high schools in the Bronx offering mental health groups, identity groups, and one-on-one therapy with students ages 12 to 18. I have also worked with elementary aged children as a playworker - I offered emotional and relational support through free play observation, participation, and reflection.
