What does a first session with you look like?

The intake will be the first session with me. In this session we will get a basic overview of your life, relationships, and current challenges. We will develop a treatment plan based on goals that are important to you and will be ready to start the therapy process the following session. In order to help you with current challenges you are experiencing I will focus on using evidenced based practices related to your struggles. Overall I use a person centered approach which in a nutshell is based in empathy and puts the client in the drivers seat of therapy. I am here in the passenger seat to help support you and give you tools to address the challenges you face.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Focused on addressing the negative thoughts that affect our feelings which in turn affects our behavior. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): Originally created for Borderline personality disorder but has been proven to be helpful with a multitude of diagnosis in teaching skills to improve emotion regulation, interpersonal relationships, mindfulness, and distress tolerence. Behavioral Activation: Main focus is on Depression and how to work through the symptoms of depression and return to activities of enjoyment.
