What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

Alyssa is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Art Therapist, and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor experienced in working with children, adolescents, and families. She has been in practice since 2010. Alyssa has received training in Play Therapy, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care. Alyssa approaches her work with clients in a strengths-based and collaborative manner. She believes strongly in people's innate ability to heal and greatly enjoys partnering with her clients on this journey. Clients may choose to incorporate creative approaches into counseling sessions including art and play therapies. These creative interventions can address deep rooted pains through metaphor and introspection. Alyssa also incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to transform inner dialogue and support improvements in emotional regulation. Ultimately counseling sessions and interventions are individualized to meet the needs and goals of the client and to provide the tools necessary to sustain long term change.
