What does a first session with you look like?
In our initial session, I work to get to know your background, your goals for therapy and some of the challenges you might be facing right now. My belief is that everything you need for healing is already within you. It is my job to help you activate it through connecting to your healthy self. My hope is that you walk away from our first session with an idea of the goals that we will be working on together and an eagerness to get started. In our following sessions, I will encourage you to more deeply process life content that is most important to you right now. This may be current issues or issues from the past. You will gain a deeper understanding of yourself and be armed with new coping skills and techniques to battle even the darkest of days.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
Combining evidence-based practices with creative interventions, I support clients in healing holistically. I am extensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). DBT incorporates skills in the areas of mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. In addition to DBT, I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help you reframe and challenge unhelpful thought patterns. I like to bring in ACT Values work to help you better identify and live your values. As a creative arts therapist, I enjoy using art, journaling and movement. I sometimes give creative homework to help you deepen your healing outside of sessions. I help clients identify their healthy self/soul self to help guide them towards living their best lives.
