My treatment approach focuses on building the therapeutic relationship, understanding my client's goals and working with the client to identify barriers that prevent them from achieving their goals. Together, we create an individualized plan for overcoming those barriers using supportive/insight-oriented psychotherapy, education, and skill building. At the end of some sessions, we may agree on a "homework assignment" the client will work on before our next appointment; other sessions may result quite simply in a client's reflecting on understandings or discoveries made during our time together.

I am fully trained in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy as well as IFS (Internal Family Systems), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) techniques. I have many years of experience helping clients who struggle with addiction to build the skills they need to overcome the painful effects of this condition. I use a mixture of these approaches to help each of my clients in ways that work for them.
