What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a mother of six, a wife and daughter of veterans, and advocate of individuals with disabilities, I understand the unique stressor families and individuals face in daily life.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Angela is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Clinician (LCMHC) with 8 years of experience in helping adults who are affected by negative experiences and traumas from their past. She works with them by building a therapeutic relationship founded on mutual respect, Angela believes that people have the ability to heal within themselves; however, they may need someone to help them locate the tools and strength to do so. It can be hard to take the first step to reach out for help as there may be uncertainty on our path to recovery and healing. Angela is passionate about healing trauma survivors and helping them find a life worth living again. Angela specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, and major life issues. Angela completed her Master of Science in Community Mental Health (MS) at Southern New Hampshire University. She is a former military child and spouse of a veteran with ample experience navigating the stressors and joys of military life and beyond. This coupled with her professional experience working in various settings enables her to provide compassionate, empathetic care while supporting her clients through their path in their own healing journey. Angela has multiple treatment approaches including mindfulness, eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and solutions-focused therapy. Whether we like it or not we are affected by the negative experiences and traumas from our past. They often lead to feelings of loneliness, fear, and uncertainty. Do you feel as if you are unable to be present with your friends and family in daily life? Are you constantly hypervigilant, easily triggered, or have night sweats from night terrors? Or maybe you get flashbacks or panic attacks? These feelings can consume you and make it feel as if you are losing yourself; however, it is possible to be brought out of the haze. Maybe you are struggling with constant depression or anxiety and are unable to be present in your daily life due to these symptoms and are unsure how to manage them. Making the decision to pursue counseling requires courage and is a sign that you re ready for healing, change, and growth. Ask yourself this question, What changes in my life would I like to see? Maybe you won t have the answer today, Angela would like to help you find that answer. Angela would love the opportunity to work alongside you through your healing process. Having an open-minded, warm, compassionate person that can help guide you through these difficult times can be beneficial. Allow her to support you through your healing journey so you can take back the life you want to be living and be the person you know you are. Angela is a person-centered therapist and believes that everyone has the ability to heal and that it is her job to help each person on their healing journey. Each person is different and should not be treated as a "one-size fits all" in treatment. She will work alongside you to determine what works best for you. Angela is a mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. She has compassion, empathy, and understanding. She would like to work with you as you find your own path to healing.
