Like weary travelers, my clients need a safe space to unpack. Typically, the heaviest loads of distress are identified through psychosocial assessment and then prioritized. I treat many with severe and persistent mental illness, as well as people new to counseling. For couples and families, early work includes gaining an understanding of relationship dynamics and how in these areas, individuals are not the clients here, the whole system or the relationship is being brought to treatment. The clients will ultimately have a better understanding of themselves as individuals and in relationship to others, with a greater ability to implement and maintain ongoing self-care strategies. I keep it clear that I work for my clients and not the other way.

I employ standard assessments and interventions employing cognitive behavioral therapy with Jungian-oriented psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Family Systems Therapy. I strongly believe that a good therapist has expert questions, not answers.
