What does a first session with you look like?

After a session with me for adults, you can expect to have a partner working alongside you throughout the process. I like to provide "homework" or "goals" for the client to work on while out of session and follow up in the next meeting. You can expect to have someone check in with you prior to exiting the session to ensure safety, well-being, and emotional regulation. After a session with a child, the child can expect to have so much fun they may not even realize they're in therapy! ;-) I like to engage the caregiver with treatment goals and plans for at least a 3-6 month timeframe. As necessary, I will inform the caregiver of the goals that were worked on or goals that we will be trying throughout the time. This encourages practicing skills inside the home as well as in session.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

For all clients, I approach treatment through a trauma-focused lens. This means that whether or not you or your child had experienced any form of trauma, I approach with care and understanding. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and have extensive training in trauma-focused interventions. I utilize play therapy, art therapy, and sand tray modalities as common tools to help my clients process their challenges.
