What does a first session with you look like?

In our first 1-hour visit, we focus on building a positive therapeutic alliance in the initial psychiatric evaluation session. At this initial visit, we will discuss your current psychiatric symptoms, past psychiatric history, social history, and past medical history. The initial psychiatric evaluation will aid in formulating an accurate diagnosis and developing an individualized treatment plan. My patients can expect to receive ongoing positive feedback on their treatment progress while receiving therapeutic guidance as we actively work together to achieve their mental healthcare goals. Most importantly, YOU'RE essential to the success of your treatment plan. Through positive communication and continued collaboration, I'm dedicated to guiding you through your mental health journey.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I utilize a collaborative teamwork approach when providing care to my patients. Establishing shared decision-making is essential when developing an individualized treatment plan with my patients. I use validated screening tools, evidence-based practice treatment, and the DSM-5 to aid me in formulating an accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment plan. If your individualized treatment plan includes treatment with psychotropic medications, lab work will be required before starting medications. This ensures you're medically stable, rules out potential medical causes for your psychiatric symptoms, and avoids contraindications. I prescribe FDA and off-label psychotropic medications (if appropriate).*Medication changes and refills are only performed during scheduled follow-up appointments.
