The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.
I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. My primary responsibility as your counselor is to help you succeed in your personal goals.
Barry has been a counselor for 29 years and he has worked primarily with adults in various situations. He specializes in helping persons achieve recovery from substance abuse and from process addictions including sex and love addictions. His special skill is to help persons identify meaning in their lives so that they can cope with the suffering and challenges of adult living. Barry has both a Master of Science Degree and also a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Rehabilitation Counseling from Springfield College. He has worked as a counselor for 29 years in various settings, including prisons, juvenile detention centers, shelters for homeless persons, and outpatient community-based clinics. He uses cognitive behavioral therapy to help people correct the thinking errors that are the foundation for many of their problems. Life is full of suffering.
