What does a first session with you look like?

I like to use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Reality Therapy in my practice. In our first session, we'll discuss your situation and what you hope to get from our sessions and devise a plan. Together, we'll work on overcoming the things holding you back, and I'll help you become stronger and more resilient.

In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?

My family issues, struggles with self-identity, and hardships have shaped me into a more empathetic and relatable therapist. Dealing with these challenges growing up taught me the value of empathy and non-judgmental support. It's helped me connect with my patients personally and create a safe space where they feel understood and supported. My experiences have made me a therapist who knows the theory and truly understands the complexities of human emotions and experiences.

What does success look like in therapy? How will a client know that they are making progress?

Therapy clients can tell they're making progress when they become more aware of their emotions, recognize their strengths, and start to see that there can be multiple angles to a single situation. They're on the right track when they start understanding why they react to things the way they do. Tapping into their natural strengths makes them feel more capable of handling challenges. Lastly, being open to different perspectives helps them become more empathetic and open-minded. All of this shows real growth and progress in therapy.

Work History

I started off as a Child Welfare case manager, making sure kids were safe and families got the help they needed. During my Master's program, I did an internship at a place where I ran therapy groups for teens and adults and did individual therapy. I also worked as a mobile crisis clinician, helping kids in immediate crisis and making sure they got the ongoing help they needed. Through my background in crisis intervention in the ER, I've gained a unique perspective on guiding clients through difficult times. This experience has allowed me to provide tailored support, inspire hope, and empower individuals. Above all, it has taught me the importance of being empathetic and nonjudgmental, especially during emotional turmoil.
