What is your style/approach to therapy?
The most important treatment methods and tools I utilize are empathy and listening skills. Motivational Interviewing may be used to help you hear and understand yourself. Various standardized tests can be used to help identify your treatment needs. Elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, or other therapies, may be utilized where warranted.
What does a first session with you look like?
I aim to understand you and your world through hearing your story from your point of view. I will explain how mental health theories, diagnoses, and treatments fit to your situation. We will discuss treatment options and expected outcomes, risks and benefits and work together with you to decide on the best treatment options for you. With this you will take away greater knowledge, in-sight and a sense of control from our sessions.
