What does a first session with you look like?
At the first session, if you have been in therapy previously we can discuss what worked or did not work for you and/or how to proceed. If you have no previous therapy experience, we can discuss in more detail what it entails and what to expect. The initial session is typically when treatment goals and outcomes are clarified, as well as discussing issues of confidentiality and therapy limitations.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I am relatively eclectic in my approach, utilizing whatever suits clients the best, whether that is systems, cognitive behavioral, or psychodynamic. I am a big believer in homework and take home material as it makes the sessions more productive, and helps clients to apply any insights during the week. Plus it provides something tangible that they can go back and look at later.
