During our first session together, we will spend some time getting to know one another and identifying the main issues you would like to focus on in our work together. We will establish some therapy goals and objectives so that we are always on the same page with what we are trying to accomplish. During each session you will gain valuable insight and be introduced to new ideas and strategies. I will challenge you to apply these between sessions and share your thoughts. My hope is always that you walk away from each session hopeful, challenged, and inspired.
My therapeutic approach is integrated and informed by many different schools of thought but has roots in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because I firmly believe that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interwoven and feed off of one another. More specifically, I draw from and utilize the approaches of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which also focus on mindfulness and tend to be more action-oriented in nature. I like to give you small challenges between sessions to apply or elaborate on the work we are doing together. My approach is strengths-based and guided by your values and will always be individualized to your specific needs because no two clients are exactly alike. For couples I also utilize evidence-based Gottman Method as a foundation.
