What does a first session with you look like?

Building a therapeutic relationship is key to working together to start the healing process. Our first session will involve me learning about your social support, work and/or school life, family, hobbies, and any organizations you are affiliated with. It is important for me to create a safe space and a warm environment to share. Together, we will build goals and practice strategies to help you reach your desired outcomes. I encourage journaling throughout the week to monitor progress and behavior patterns. As we work together, I will help you see your strengths and empower you to be the best version of yourself.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SF) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) are my primary treatment methods. Depending on client needs a combination of all 3 may be utilized. CBT is a short term therapy that focuses on how your thoughts and emotions can influence your behavior. SF is a brief goal focused therapy that concentrates on constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems. MI is designed for individuals who have mixed feelings about changing a specific behavior or needs motivation to push through an emotional stage in life. I also support and recommend lifestyle changes which may include incorporating exercise, healthy sleep patterns, social support, nutrition and stress reduction.
