What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

Originally from Virginia, I earned a BS in Physics from the University of Virginia and then an MD from the University of Virginia. From there, I completed residency training and have become Board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction and practice these. Practice areas include people struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar disorder, Substance Use disorders, ADHD and Interpersonal problems, among others. Scheduled sessions are generally 45 to 50 minutes in length and involve a combination of medication management as well as psychotherapy. Working to understand what a person is experiencing/feeling and establishing a trusting therapeutic alliance is necessary for optimal improvement. In addition to providing treatment to people struggling with Psychiatric and Substance Use issues, licensed professionals such as Physicians, Nurses, Psychologists and others who experience license difficulties where the Boards order and evaluation, come to me for objective evaluations.
