What does a first session with you look like?
After conducting a full intake assessment together we will work on a treatment plan designed to best meet your individual needs. In sessions, I will provide you with the tools you need to weather life's storms and learn to improvise adapt and overcome situations that may seem unbearable now. I will help you reprocess traumatic and maladaptive events and memories that impede your present-day happiness and ability to enjoy life.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. My clients can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of talking therapy. It's based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), but it's specially adapted for people who feel emotions very intensely. The aim of DBT is to help you: Understand and accept your difficult feelings while regulating your emotions.
