What does a first session with you look like?

Together, we can identify what's not working and get you back to balance. We'll use a whole self approach, addressing the needs of your mind, body and spirit. I also integrate mindfulness, yoga, nature and aromatherapy to help you develop a stronger relationship with yourself. I will empower you to overcome mental and emotional limitations so you can have more psychological flexibility and live your best life-with less suffering, more presence in the here and now, and more committed action, guided by your personal values.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change negative and limiting thinking patterns. These strategies might include: Learning to recognize one's distortions in thinking that are creating problems, and then to reevaluate them in light of reality. Gaining a better understanding of the behavior and motivation of others. I also utilize Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is an action oriented approach towards psychological flexibility. Skills include mindfulness, keeping a balanced perspective, identifying values and goals, committing to values and goals, accepting unwanted feelings and cognitive defusion.
