What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a creative spirit, mother of 5, and wife, I understand the unique needs and challenges that come from the journey that is life and would welcome the opportunity to join you on your journey to explore, heal, and navigate the next steps.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Carrie is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 5 years of experience listening, engaging, encouraging, and treating all persons with respect, compassion, and kindness as they work through their life challenges. Your plan will be tailored to you and your needs, wants, desires for your life. Carrie completed her Master of Science in Mental Health Masters degree from Capella University. Carrie believes that it takes courage to trust someone and ask for help, and she would be honored to walk with you through your journey of change as you build new resources within you to begin to thrive while gaining courage and growth. She worked for 15 years as an art teacher for inner-city Dallas, and has an extensive history working with children and adults who have experienced extensive trauma. She uses a person-centered approach that allows the client to lead, and has experience working in CPT, CBT, EMDR, TFCBT, and Expressive Arts. She is genuine, warm, and inviting.
