Under Clinical Supervision

CarrieAnn Lefsaker, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, A18778 is practicing under the supervision of Amanda Allen (North Carolina, LCMHC-S, S10517) at Triangle Trauma Counseling, PLLC.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I practice trauma-informed therapy: this means that I usually help you identify the foundational issue or trauma underneath a problem you are currently having, or pattern you are trying to change, and we work on that. This approach will very often clear up current stresses, and, just as importantly, prevent the same thing from happening in the future. In other words, we go after the cause instead of the symptoms. However, this approach isn't always the right one; everyone is different and in a different place. Sometimes the culprit is something in the present rather than something in the past. Because of this, I stay very open-minded and listen to your wants, needs and preferences, all of which are extremely important to your well-being. We work together as a team and you always have the final say, because you are the expert on you.

Work History

First and foremost, I support and affirm all LGBTQ+ identities and I am respectful of all racial, ethnic, and cultural identities and experiences. I spent 21 years in the U.S. military and have been peer mentoring in the addiction recovery community for over 10 years. My time with these two populations, and my own personal experiences, have given me a passion for understanding and treating trauma and the many conditions that arise along with it.
