The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. With 18 years of experience in the mental health field working with a variety of clientele, I value establishing an authentic connection with my clients and working to meet their individual goals.

Carson Winston is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 18 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of clinical settings. Carson attained her professional experience working in residential treatment, outpatient settings, emergency mental health, and hospice. She enjoys assisting individuals in coping with life transitions, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Carson completed both her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology and her Master of Education (MEd) in Community Counseling at Lynchburg College.She is certified as a Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CATP). Carson s approach to therapy encompasses a variety of techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), gestalt therapy, and person-centered therapy. She also utilizes mindfulness-based practices and relaxation techniques to support clients. Carson values the individuality of each client and ensures therapy is tailored to clients specific needs and preferences.
