What does a first session with you look like?

Seeking therapy can be scary, so please take a moment and acknowledge this huge step you've just taken. With that in mind, information can sometimes help ease ambivalence in new experiences and clarify expectations. To that end, my role is to challenge you, present new perspectives, and share insights to help you reach the goals you identify as important. My role is not to tell you how you should feel or what you should do, but rather, to help you become more clear on the path that's right for you. Compassion, authenticity, transparency, curiosity, patience, open-mindedness and attention to what you say and don't say are all attributes you can expect from me.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I specialize in treating trauma, as well as grief, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, social justice issues, life transitions, LGBQT+ issues, parenting and child development. I also understand your money and time are valuable, so I try to be as structured and goal-oriented as possible and remain focused on the latest evidence-based practices. My approach is solution-focused, skill-based, and psychodynamic. I utilize an integrative approach tailored to your individual needs, including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Prolonged Exposure (PE) Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children and adolescents Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Meditation Spirituality Shadow work A goal of my own is to become certified in hypnotherapy as well!
