Learn more about my:

What does a first session with you look like?

I take your story and help you or your kiddo learn skills to own your story. No one can change the past, but you can own your story, your future and as a result learn skills that allow you and your kiddos to enjoy life and all its ups and downs regardless of past experiences. I have worked with numerous kids with school refusal that have learned how to manage overwhelming feelings and been able to return to the classroom. I have seen adults so anxious about being late to events that they show up 45-60 minutes early only to still be anxious learn how to manage these symptoms and arrive with moments or spare...or even late without having anxiety attacks.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I utilize Child-Parent Psychotherapy for children that experienced trauma (scary or upsetting events) and are between the ages of 0-6. This is an ideal model for those kids whose first language is still play and have dedicated caregivers to join them in the process. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is for those kiddos that are 3-18, more verbal and have caregivers willing to do the hard work with them. Both models focus on learning skills to change how they think of their experiences, to them how to feel safe in the world again and strengthens the attachment between them and their superhero caregivers. For anxiety, depression and other mental health disorders I use a mix of Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational interviewing. These are all evidence based, client-centered and results are experienced within a few weeks with dedicated practice to the skills taught.
