What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. I have dedicated my career to helping people grow, prosper and develop the necessary skills to navigate a complicated world.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Christina is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and former Clinical Social Worker who combines empathy and a strong understanding of psychopharmacology to provide comprehensive mental health treatment. Mental Health conditions treated include depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief/bereavement, adjustment disorder, ADHD, and OCD. Christina is passionate about mental health advocacy, client-centered care, and building a strong and effective therapeutic relationship. Christina completed her Master's degree in Social Work at Columbia University and worked for many years as an inpatient and outpatient Psychiatric Social Worker. Eventually, she decided to take her passion for neurobiology and medication treatment of psychiatric conditions, and returned to school, completing an accelerated Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from Virginia Commonwealth University. Christina then attended the University of Pennsylvania and obtained a Master's degree in Nursing, with a specialty in primary mental health care (MSN-PMHNP). Utilizing both medication management and therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, she provides high-quality care. Today's world presents challenges that affect the well-being of all people, especially those facing mental health issues and life transitions. It is important to have support and kindness in helping to reach your wellness goals. Christina is confident that in working together to treat mental health symptoms you will become empowered and able to make lasting changes toward living your best life.
