What does a first session with you look like?

After your first session with me, I hope that you feel a sense of genuine kindness, compassion, and empathy. Because my therapy approach is positively focused and encourages self-acceptance opposed to trying to become someone different than who you are, I hope that you find a place where you can find your authentic and vulnerable self. From there, my hope for you is that you become the very best emotional, mental, physical, and/or spiritual version of yourself that you were meant to be.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

My theoretic approach to therapy is primarily based in Psychodynamic Theory. Psychodynamic theory focuses on the psychological roots of emotional suffering. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are self-reflection and self-examination, as well as the use of the relationship between therapist and client as a sort of window reflection into problematic relationship patterns in the patient’s life. Its goal is not only to alleviate the most obvious mental health symptoms, but to help people lead healthier lives. I also use a mix of Client-Centered/Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Trauma-Focused, Feminist, Attachment-Based, and Systems therapy theoretical models as an eclectic framework for my approach to therapy.
