What does a first session with you look like?
I believe therapy is a relationship and that you are your own expert. I can teach you tools to meet your goals for therapy. I love sharing my knowledge through between-session worksheets, or other resources. Some people benefit from a longer time frame, while others are best served with a shorter time frame of therapy. Everyone is an individual and deserves to have an individualized treatment plan.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
After the initial intake assessment, we will together develop a realistic treatment plan outlining what your goals are for your treatment time. We will discuss the need for other referrals, such as to a psychiatrist or primary care doctor for a physical and/or medications. There may also be a need for a higher level of care under certain circumstances. Once we get the initial formalities out of the way, we will discuss treatment modalities and decide which would make the most sense to utilize. Remember that you are the driver of this journey. I am your guide! Open communication at all times!
