What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I'm goal-oriented, solution-focused and mindfulness-based in my approach. I focus on a client's values, as I know that values often evoke a commitment to change. In addition, I ask the clients consider their social context and cultural upbringing that may inform their understanding of themselves and others. I only accept insurance for clients in New York. For clients in New Jersey and Rhode Island, all sessions are private pay ($125 for the first session and $100 for followwing sessions). All potential clients will need to create an account via Headway (https://headway.co) whether insurance is accepted or not. All payments will be via Headway.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My hope is the clients feel heard and validated, and are able to vocalize and act upon a clear action plan that will move them towards their goals for counseling.

What does a first session with you look like?

The first session is what is considered an intake session in which I learn as much about you and your motivation for counseling. It'll tend towards me talking more, as I share information about my therapy approach and to answer your questions. I also show a short video about the brain's evolution to coping with our current-day issues and concerns. The first and second session will be more structured to establish a framework and foundation by exploring values and learning about in-the-moment practices then will be more free-flowing based on what clients bring into each session. However, I will often return to the framework and foundation of values, and the client's initial goals for counseling so me and the client are staying on track and moving forward.

Work History

As a clinical mental health counselor, my focus has been on college mental health, and providing therapy services to undergraduate and graduate students. The age range has been from 18 years old to 60 years old. I started at Alfred University in the southern tier of New York then worked at Marist College in the Hudson Valley in New York for 3 years for which the majority of my time was on-line due to the COVID pandemic. I currently work at Ramapo College of New Jersey as a psychological counselor and the LGBTQIA+ liaison for the Center for Health and Counseling Services. My interest and commitment to the development and support of emerging adults (18-25 years old) is a result of working with them and spporting them when I was in student affairs at several colleges. When I decided to pursue a different vocation/profession, I wanted to continue to work with emerging adults as well as adults who are going through different transitions whether it be leaving home to go to undergraduate or graduate studies or exploring identity and all its complexities as a human, individually and in community.
