As stated before, I use a person centered approach as well as a holistic one, meaning incorporating all aspects of mind, body, and spirit in the healing process. I have knowledge and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression as well as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for obsessive thoughts and compulsions that occur with OCD, phobias, fears. I like Motivational Interviewing to assist with bringing about change. I incorporate anxiety reduction skills and techniques such as Progressive Muscle Relaxation skills and deep breathing for you to learn to calm yourself. On the whole, I use a more integrative approach and see what works for you individually.
My counseling style is pretty much down to earth and I have have been described as 'pulling no punches' and getting to the point. I am caring and compassionate and have a decent sense of humor. You can expect to feel relaxed as we meet and talk and begin to sort through any issues you may have. I want you to feel safe here without any judgment, very important to me. I will ask you from time to time if you feel I am best reaching your needs and it is important to be honest with me. I said earlier I am blessed to do this work and I want to make sure you feel we are a good fit and I am understanding of your concerns. Let me know if something works and if something doesn't! Remember, I am here for you!
