What does a first session with you look like?
During our sessions, you can anticipate gaining practical tools to manage stress and anxiety. You'll have the opportunity to cultivate a more compassionate and self-nurturing outlook towards yourself, as well as your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Additionally, we will explore what may be hindering your progress and work towards redirecting your focus to the life you desire. I want to be clear that I do not offer trauma reprocessing through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in my practice. If trauma reprocessing is the primary goal for therapy or this is your first time addressing trauma in therapy, I strongly encourage seeking out a qualified trauma specialist to ensure the highest level of care and support.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
In my practice, I draw on a variety of evidence-based treatment methods and tools to best meet the unique needs of each individual client. These methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Redecision Therapy. In addition, I may incorporate Brainspotting and Art Therapy into sessions, as I have found that creative activities can offer a unique perspective and facilitate deeper healing. It's important to note that the use of art in therapy is completely optional and dependent on the client's preferences. For individuals who have experienced trauma and are on their journey of post-traumatic growth, I find that art therapy can be particularly supportive in exploring and expressing their experiences.
