What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. Having had my own experiences with anxiety and the like, I can truly empathize with clients who feel a loss of control or a sense of powerlessness; I am passionate about paying it forward by teaching clients the effective coping mechanisms I have learned and being a calming presence for the client.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Erica Woyce is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 9 years of experience working with clients of all different ages, most recently with young adults and adults. She focuses on treating those who are suffering from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, family issues, anger, life transitional difficulties, grief, school and work issues, stress, low self-esteem, and more. Erica can help clients to manage difficult emotions, improve communication in relationships, stabilize their mood, and learn to challenge negative thinking patterns. Erica earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kean University. During sessions, she assists clients in developing coping strategies using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Erica help clients utilize strategies to challenge negative thoughts, regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and improve relationships. She also helps clients practice mindfulness, grounding, and breathing exercises in sessions. If clients enjoy art, Erica can guide them through activities that allow for the creative expression of emotions and relaxation. Erica is enthusiastic about helping clients to gain self-awareness and the tools they need to cope effectively with any struggles that they experience. She creates a safe space in which a client can feel comfortable to make the session their own and focus on their goals. She always works as a team with clients and tailors her approach to their unique needs. Erica would be honored to walk with you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
