What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. Our past, present, and thoughts about the future shape us individuals together we will identify concerns and find solutions to help you understand yourself and others better.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Esther Elena Ruiz is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor(LCPC)who has over 8 years of experience providing therapeutic care to children, adults, couples, and families. Esther specializes in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, mindfulness, substance abuse, attachment, relationship issues, domestic violence, and parental issues. As a counselor, her goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship with you while actively working together to achieve your short and long-term life goals. Esther completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Benedictine University and received her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology (Counseling Practice) from Roosevelt University. She works hard to establish a safe space for her clients to share their stories in a judgment-free zone and believes no single "type" of therapy is the correct one for everyone, so she works with her clients and draws from various modalities to help them figure out what will work best to achieve their goals. Esther is committed to providing a comfortable, safe, and trusting environment where together you will be able to unpack, process, and reflect on what is preventing your discovery of your inner self and begin to heal. She can help you understand how your thoughts and feelings about the past, present, and future shape us as individuals. Together, you'll identify concerns and find solutions that aim to help you build healthier relationships and personal boundaries.
