What does a first session with you look like?
Clients will experience the opportunity to express and share their thoughts, and feelings. They will encounter an active listener and experienced counselor who will ask them questions to better guide them through their particular situation. The clients will be encouraged and supported in their journies of self-discovery.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I use the client-centered, eclectic, transpersonal approach. I use many techniques and modalities: mindfulness meditation, breath work, visualizations, body awareness, and yoga to help individuals become more present and reduce stress. I help clients to focus on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their mental health issues. In that way, the clients develop coping strategies and problem-solving skills. I use a Solution-Focused brief therapy approach to help clients to find solutions rather than dwell on problems. I help clients identify their strengths and develop strategies to achieve their goals. I use a Narrative therapy approach to explore how individuals construct their personal stories and help them rewrite narratives that are more empowering and aligned with their values and aspirations. I encourage clients to use creative processes to help individuals express and explore their emotions and experiences: music, painting, drawing, dance/movement, etc. I use psychoeducation to provide clients with information and education about mental health conditions, coping strategies, and self-care practices that can empower them to take an active role in their treatment and overall well-being. I encouraging clients to address their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions can enhance their overall well-being. This may involve incorporating practices like exercise, nutrition, sleep hygiene, and self-reflection.
