What is your style/approach to therapy?
I try to be eclectic in my approach. Some people like to journal and we review their journal entries. Some people like to talk and I listen mostly. Some people like to be creative, so I will bring our pencils and art supplies to help process emotions. Even been known to take a walk when the weather is not 100 degrees in Texas.
What does a first session with you look like?
I am big in to mindfulness. I feel we are so digitally connected and rushed that sometimes we need to pause and see what is around us. So, I will teach mindfulness techniques as part of sessions. But, I mostly begin every session with a question, "What do you want to accomplish today?" Then we move from there. I have things we can work on, but your agenda is the most important agenda.
