What does a first session with you look like?
I believe that an effective treatment starts with the provider making the right diagnosis. My first session with a client is usually to have a detailed interview with the client. The interview aims to gather information relating to the client's life history, the history of the illness, and the client’s major concerns, and symptoms. Reviewing this information helps me to form an impression of the diagnosis based on the DSM-5 criteria.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
Treatment is a customized client-focused plan of care that aims to evaluate and treat the individual holistically. Gerald understands that mental health is holistic and affects all areas of one's life. His goal is to be fully attentive to the needs of his clients and to apply an evidence-based, and yet culturally sensitive approach to treatment and care.
