What does a first session with you look like?
I assist the client in understanding from a scientific perspective just what is going on in their brain-feelings-body in simple terms so that as they learn/practice coping skills that help them to make sense of the reasons they got stuck in the first place - and gain insight into learning/growing from their past pain.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I practice Brief Solution Focused, Client Centered Therapy and use the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach primarily because this theory addresses the fact that thoughts are the drivers of who we are and what we can become and do. Negative thoughts can sabotage our lives in many areas such as our well being, our relationships, our career, our past, our present and our future.
