What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I attended West Virginia University School of Medicine for both medical school and my residency training in Psychiatry. I am passionate about improving the lives of patients with mental illness through a combination of medication management and brief psychotherapy interventions. I practice Psychiatry using an integrative approach that includes coordination with your other doctors, attempting to strengthen social supports, and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices. I have experience treating the following illnesses: -Mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder) -Anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias, etc. ) -Neurocognitive disorders (dementias, traumatic brain injuries) -Mental illness related to developmental disabilities (autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, ADHD) New patient visits typically last for an hour.
