What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a woman of color, mother, and immigrant who has experienced some personal challenges and overcame they, I understand the importance of self awareness, empathy and have the ability to examine situations and view things from various perspectives.

Hassanatu Bah is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) with over 18 years of experience in the mental health field. She is committed to supporting adolescents, adults and couples address their unique challenges and learn healthy coping skills that will lead to healthier relationships and connections with themselves and others. Hassanatu specializes in treating depression, anxiety, substance use, relationship issues, trauma, and personal growth issues. Hassanatu completed her Master's degree in Social work at Salem State University. She has lived in different continents, is a mother to 3 boys, and has a lot of experience navigating stressful situations. Hassanatu utilizes multiple treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness Therapy. She works closely with her clients to help them identify their strengths and barriers and in the process develop a sustainable plan for the present and future. Hassanatu is committed to helping you gain insight to your challenges and is confident that her approach with support you in gaining new perspective and techniques that will help you cope through your journey.
