What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. I have always felt that mental health recovery is possible and that there is hope and healing for those who are willing to do the interpersonal work that will provide insight and resilience.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Heidi has experience working with people who struggle with depression and anxiety due to adjustment issues and is also comfortable helping others who have past trauma experiences. Heidi has a Master's of Science from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2010 a CACREP program. She is currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Washington since 2016, as well as a Clinical Supervisor. Prior to that, Heidi was a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas from 2011 to 2016. Heidi utilizes counseling approaches that are person-centered, including rational emotive behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and eye movement desensitization therapy, as well as other approaches such as motivational interviewing and art therapy techniques for individuals. Caring about wellness and mental health recovery is Heidi s passion and purpose in life. Being a good listener and providing validation for others is key to growth for positive outcomes and change.
