What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

Ian Gough is a Licensed Professional Counselor, having attained a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University. He also holds a Bachelor's in Communication with a minor in Fine Arts, and aims to integrate his passion for drawing and creativity into his client work. He has been practicing since 2020 and has been gaining knowledge and experience across a multitude of agencies and demographics since then. He has worked with people from a wide variety of cultures, ethnicities, and age groups. He has helped to treat individuals, both young and old, as well as couples, families, and groups. Ian is fascinated by psychology and loves to expand his knowledge by attending trainings and finding interesting research to support and enlighten his clients based on their specific needs. His approach is integrative and eclectic, which he believes is essential when working with such a varied caseload of interesting individuals. His training has included Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) and a multitude of specific interventions across a spectrum of treatment. He has a special interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and has generally been a part of that community for most of his life.
