What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a woman of color with over 20 years of lived experiences, I understand the varied life cycle events  family, career and individuality -- with healthy life balances.

Ida Ham is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Ida is passionate about helping adolescents, adults, and couples address their unique challenges and create life balances with improved coping skills for a fulfilling life. She specializes in depression, anxiety, addiction, life transitions, problem solving, relationship issues, and coping skills. Ida completed her Master of Arts (MA) in Agency Counseling at North Carolina Central University. She has a family and lived experiences balancing the unique developments within family life. Ida has continued her skill building and has completed the nationally approved Stephen Ministry training for faith-based counseling and support. Ida s training and work experiences have allowed her the opportunity to utilize varied therapies such as person-centered, cognitive, behavioral, acceptance, commitment, motivational based, strengths based, decision making, problem solving, and solution focused. You do not have to process this challenge alone. Ida is available to help you. Life cycle events occur and may create stress. Varied feelings present and are processed throughout the life cycle.
