Education
Barry University, Associate of Applied Arts, Educational Leadership / Counseling, 2005
My background in Educational Leadership and Counseling equips me to support youth, families, and educators through life’s challenges both inside and outside the classroom. This degree focused on the intersection of mental health and academic development, with specialized training in child and adolescent counseling, family systems, and school-based interventions. I completed research on improving mental health access for students in underserved communities and earned recognition for leadership in inclusive, trauma-informed education. This experience allows me to guide families with compassion, advocate for young people, and partner with schools to foster environments where emotional and academic growth can thrive.
Troy State University, Associate of Applied Arts, Counseling and Human Development, 1995
My academic background in Counseling and Human Development has deeply shaped my approach to supporting youth, families, and individuals across all stages of growth. This degree emphasized a holistic understanding of human behavior, emotional development, and interpersonal dynamics. I received training in trauma-informed care, multicultural counseling, and family systems theory, preparing me to work compassionately with clients navigating anxiety, identity, transitions, and relationship challenges. My coursework and research focused on fostering resilience in underserved youth and promoting emotionally responsive support within educational and community settings. This foundation allows me to walk alongside clients with empathy, insight, and a deep respect for the complexity of human growth.
University of South Florida, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, 1992
My academic foundation in Psychology has given me a strong understanding of human behavior, emotional development, and the ways our thoughts and experiences shape how we move through the world. Through this program, I gained knowledge in areas such as developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, and behavioral science, with a special focus on the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families. I participated in research on mood disorders and the impact of early life experiences on emotional resilience. This background helps me bring a compassionate, evidence-informed perspective to my work, allowing me to support clients with clarity, empathy, and practical strategies for healing and growth.
Work History
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through many roles that have shaped my approach to therapy. I began my work as a counselor in the New Horizons Program, where I helped children and teens navigate emotional and behavioral challenges. My work expanded as I became a Program Evaluator and then Clinical Manager within Aspire Health Partners, allowing me to blend hands-on counseling with leadership and program development. At Coastal Behavioral Healthcare and Camelot Community Care, I worked directly with individuals and families, including in-home settings, helping clients develop coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and heal from trauma. As the Clinical Director of the In-Home Counseling Program at Camelot, I guided a team of clinicians, providing oversight and support for care that met people where they were—both physically and emotionally. Later, as Clinical Supervisor of Outpatient Services with ACTS (Agency for Community Treatment Services), I helped lead substance use and mental health programs focused on long-term wellness and stability. Today, as a licensed telehealth therapist with BetterHelp, I continue to support clients through life transitions, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues—all from the comfort and accessibility of a virtual setting. Beyond my professional roles, I have also been a foster and adoptive parent—an experience that deeply shaped my understanding of attachment, healing, and resilience in both children and caregivers. Together, these experiences have given me
