What does a first session with you look like?
I do not believe in a generalization of symptoms or implementing a stereotypical approach to a diagnosis. My goal is to provide you with a treatment plan that it tailored to your values, needs and preferences. My hope is that through my transparent and authentic approach you will feel empowered to identify your strengths, find the confidence to use your voice and feel in control of your life again. Clients can expect to be given compassion, receive validation and feel valued for their own unique abilities without feeling strained or boxed into a specific “diagnosis.”
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I am committed to working as part of an interdisciplinary team through service linkage to community crisis prevention and intervention program that improve the capacity for effective services and supports for children and adults with both intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health needs. I believe to provide effective treatment I must work to learn and understand not only the perspective of my client on an individual level, but through the analysis of the individual’s interactions with various systems, including relationships, family of origin and cultural aspects. I have a multitude of experience and feel most confident implementing integrating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychoanalysis and Solu.
