What is your style/approach to therapy?
My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as a caring, supportive, and compassionate. We will work together to identify your strengths, so you can maximize them to help you overcome your obstacles. I am here to help you sort through things that are difficult right now and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without the fear of judgement.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
Therapy goals are determined by the client and myself. I (therapist) believe that in order for you (client) to reap the full benefits of therapy, you have to be an active participant throughout the process from beginning to end. Therefore, your input is valuable. I complete this process in 2 ways, I will either email you the document to complete individually or we will complete it together during the session within the few sessions. This document also serves as a reference for us to review periodically to make sure we are staying on track.
What does a first session with you look like?
Our first session will be more of a meet and greet. We will use this time to introduce ourselves and discuss the reason(s) for you seeking therapy. This will also allow us an opportunity to determine if we are a "good fit." Forming a positive therapeutic rapport is very important in therapy. With that said, if you feel that I am not the "right" therapist for you, please let me know, and I will follow the process provided to connect you with another therapist. If this is your first time receiving therapy, I encourage you to write down all questions you want to ask. My goal is to ease any anxieties you may have about this process, so you can have a positive and successful therapeutic experience.
