What does a first session with you look like?

After our initial session you can expect to walk away feeling at ease and hopeful. As we continue to work together you should always feel that you are being treated respectfully and non-judgmentally. Each session will leave you with improved coping skills as well as new ways of looking at things. While the problems that brought you into therapy might not go away immediately, you will feel more capable of confronting them and managing your emotions after each session.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I primarily utilize a psychodynamic approach. This is because I believe it offers clients the opportunity to process things that have happened in their lives while gaining deeper insights into their past and present. I have also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I will regularly incorporate DBT skills into session to assist clients in utilizing effective coping skills. The psychodynamic approach gives us the opportunity to process past traumas and experiences, while DBT focuses on practical skills you can implement right away.
