What does a first session with you look like?
The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As an female who has experience working with individuals from very diverse backgrounds, I understand the importance of working within one's own core beliefs and routines to create meaningful and holistic change.
What should we know about your experiences and background?
Jamie Roda is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specializes in working with adults experiencing a wide array of mental health difficulties. Many of Jamie s clients experience concerns related to depression, anxiety, and a desire for lifestyle changes. Additionally, Jamie has extensive experience working with individuals suffering from disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorders. She has found that the clients who experience the most success are willing to work together to identify small goals in order to create meaningful and long-term transformation. Jamie completed her Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Psychology at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. She was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and her family experienced issues related to divorce, depression, anxiety, substance use/abuse, food and housing insecurities, etc. Jamie found that her desire to improve her own life circumstances led her towards a career that involves helping others. She recently became a first-time parent and is committed to working with individuals to overcome life's obstacles in order to achieve their desired goals in life. Jamie is a firm believer that everyone experiences circumstances in their lives that are outside of their control, and she hopes to help them find ways to work through those obstacles in order to come out better on the other side. When working with her clients, Jamie prefers to address their presenting concerns in a practical way by collaboratively working with the individual to develop and practice action plans that best meet their needs while incorporating personal values and core beliefs. She believes that healthy change must be a collaborative process that uses "out of the box" styles to meet every person's individual needs. Jamie often uses aspects of evidence-based practices like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness in combination with the client's established routines to create meaningful change while easing the transition.
