Our first session will be spent getting to know one another. This session will last approximately an hour and I will ask many questions about your current and past mental health treatment history. We will discuss your symptoms in detail as well as review any medications or mental health concerns that you may have. Follow-up sessions are generally shorter and are used to check in, make medication adjustments, and reevaluate your symptoms to determine your response to treatment. I do provide some brief counseling during each session. The frequency of sessions depends on the nature and severity of your mental health symptoms as well as your overall response to treatment.

I utilize the psychiatric interview, a structured interview process that is utilized to diagnose mental health disorders. It is also a time when I will help to develop a treatment plan in collaboration with the patient. I review past medical and mental health treatment records when available and administer written diagnostic tests when appropriate. I utilize evidence-based treatments for a variety of mental health problems and substance use disorders with an emphasis on whole-person wellness.
