What does a first session with you look like?
My mission as your therapist is to offer a safe space where you feel understood and able to move ahead believing that change is possible. I think of therapy space as a special context where you can start viewing yourself differently and be more empowered to take that step toward change. For this, I will offer information, give another perspective and suggest materials and readings. I expect that at the end of the session, you may be surprised, curious or intrigued about how your mind works and want to pursue this journey with me. Most of all know that the space in therapy is tailored for you.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral modalities (ACT, DBT, CBT, EMDR), and insight-oriented therapies (psychodynamic). I am a certified trauma specialist (CCPT) and EMDR-trained clinician. My bicultural background offers the foundation to address ethnic and cultural issues related to your mental health.
