What does a first session with you look like?
Our first session will be spent just getting to know you, your goals, and your treatment history. I like to learn about what you have tried in the past and what has worked well, or not worked well. You will also have the opportunity to ask me questions and get to know me, as a therapist, a bit. You may notice that I utilize collaborative documentation, this means that I take notes while we talk. This is just to help my memory and ensure accuracy of your health record. When you work with me, you are in the driver's seat. I want you to feel empowered to tell me what is working well during our time together, and what is not. I will customize treatment to suit you, your needs, and your goals. I may also ask you to set a goal for yourself that you would like to accomplish between sessions.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I utilize a variety of different treatment modalities based on your needs and preferences. A few favorites that I utilize frequently are cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and internal family systems therapy. I also provide education on and encourage mindfulness, grounding, journaling, and deep breathing.
