What is your style/approach to therapy?
I consider myself an eclectic therapist in that I utilize all interventions and tools that are evidence-based and have much research to support their effectiveness. As I shared before, CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused are my typical "go to" approaches, however I use whatever best fits the needs of my clients.
What does a first session with you look like?
My initial focus with any client I work with is to build our therapeutic relationship. Research shows a strong positive correlation between relationship with your therapist and progress toward your personal goals. Therefore, the initial sessions are focused on ensuring this is the best match for you! As treatment continues it's common to feel great when you leave a session, but it's also common to leave a struggle more than when you arrived. Your care and safety will always be top priority no matter what.
